A big cam, a turbo, a supercharger or an engine swap can leave your power brake booster short on vacuum, and the pedal goes hard right when you need it. A Granatelli Motor Sports 12V electric vacuum pump for brakes supplies that vacuum on its own. It holds roughly 17 to 23 inHg, switches on when vacuum drops and off when it recovers, and uses our MAVP sensor in place of a separate vacuum switch and relay. Each kit includes 3/8" reinforced vacuum hose, a fused wiring harness and a vibration-isolating bracket. Choose bare, black or chrome housing. The pump inside is the same.

Do I need an electric vacuum pump for my brakes?
You need one if your engine makes low or uneven vacuum at idle. Big cams, turbos, superchargers and some engine swaps can leave the brake booster short on vacuum, which makes the pedal hard. A stock engine with strong vacuum usually does not need one.
How much vacuum does the pump hold?
About 17 to 23 inHg. The pump switches on when vacuum drops and shuts off when it recovers, so it does not run all the time.
Do I need a separate vacuum switch or relay?
No. Our MAVP sensor controls the pump. Wiring is two wires through the included fused harness: red to power and black to ground.
What comes in the kit?
The 12-volt pump, 3/8" reinforced vacuum hose, a fused wiring harness and a vibration-isolating mounting bracket.
What is the difference between the bare, black and chrome versions?
The pump is the same. Black and chrome come in a protective housing. The bare pump has no housing, so it is the most compact choice for hidden or tight installs.
Is it loud?
It is built to run quietly. The motor is fully isolated and the bracket keeps vibration out of the vehicle.
The pump runs but will not hold vacuum. Is the pump bad?
Not necessarily. A leaking brake booster, a bad check valve, a cracked hose or a loose fitting can all stop the system from holding vacuum. Check those first.
