Often, but not automatically. A stronger coil helps when the factory ignition is the limit, which is most common on boosted, nitrous or high-compression engines where cylinder pressure is higher. On a stock engine with healthy coils, expect a steadier spark, not a guaranteed horsepower gain.

Yes. Two magazines have run their own tests:

• LSX Magazine, supercharged C7 Corvette: Malevolent coils and 0-Ohm wires added 19.26 hp and 18.73 lb-ft (566.32 to 585.58 hp). "Needless to say, we were thrilled by the power gained by such a simple, easy-to-do swap." (LSX Magazine, September 2016)
• Ford Muscle, Vortech-supercharged 2011 Mustang GT: Pro-Series Xtreme coils alone, with no other changes, added an average of 15.3 rwhp and 14.3 lb-ft across the rev range. (Ford Muscle, August 2012)

• 2020 Corvette C8: ported 95mm throttle body, Malevolent coils and 0-Ohm wires, about 418 to 477 rear-wheel hp. (All Chevy Performance, 2021)

• MPG: built for fuel economy on Ford 4.6L/5.4L and 6.8L V10 engines, 35,000 volts.
• Hot Street: an affordable step up from stock for street cars and light bolt-ons, 42,000 to 50,000 volts on Ford applications.
• Street Fighter: designed to work alongside Accel and MSD ignition systems, 25,000 to 42,000 volts on Ford and 60,000 volts on GM LS.
• Pro Series: for high-compression engines and small nitrous kits, 60,000 to 65,000 volts on Ford and 60,000 to 80,000 volts on GM.

Granatelli publishes the output of every coil it sells and makes zero-ohm, patented plug wires. Here is how the published specs compare:

• Coil output: Every Granatelli coil lists its voltage on its product page, from 60,000 to 85,000 volts on GM LS and LT engines. MSD's LS coil pages (Blaster LS and Pro Power) do not publish a voltage figure.
• Plug wire resistance: Granatelli 0-Ohm wires have zero resistance and are covered by U.S. Patent 7,185,622. MSD rates its 8.5mm Super Conductor wires at 40 to 50 ohms per foot. A typical OEM LS wire is about 1,000 ohms.
• Connection: Granatelli coils use patented stainless steel connectors and isolator rings for zero resistance with no RFI/EMI interference.
• Independent testing: LSX Magazine and Ford Muscle have published their own dyno tests of Granatelli coils and wires. See "Are Granatelli parts dyno tested?" above.
• Warranty: Every Granatelli coil carries a one-year warranty, the same as MSD's.
• Built in Oxnard: Granatelli designs, machines and assembles its parts in Oxnard, California, where it was founded in 1989.

Most Granatelli ignition coils are designed as direct plug-and-play upgrades and do not require tuning. However, heavily modified vehicles may benefit from a custom tune to maximize performance.

A typical OEM LS plug wire has about 1,000 ohms of resistance. Granatelli 0-Ohm wires have zero, so the full power from the coil reaches the spark plug.

Granatelli "0 Ohm" spark plug wires are engineered with zero-resistance technology to maximize spark energy transfer while maintaining proper EMI/RFI suppression. This helps improve spark efficiency and reliability in both street and race applications.

An exhaust cutout is a valve system installed into your exhaust that allows you to instantly switch between a quieter street setup and a more aggressive open exhaust tone at the push of a button.

Granatelli Motor Sports exhaust cutouts feature a Smart Chip-controlled one-touch operating system designed to prevent over-torquing and internal gear damage. They also include CNC-machined aluminum bodies, stainless steel butterfly plates, high-torque motors, and plug-and-play wiring for reliable operation.

Every Granatelli electric cutout comes with Smart Chip one-touch control. With QTP, one-touch is an extra-cost add-on.

• Switch: Press a Granatelli switch once and the valve opens or closes on its own, and the chip stops the motor before it over-torques the gears. QTP's standard QTEC kit uses a toggle switch you push up or down, and QTP says the valve takes about 4.75 seconds to go from closed to open. QTP's one-touch wireless remote is sold separately.
• Complete kit: Granatelli kits come with the cutout, wiring harness, switch, gaskets, clamps or flanges, turndowns and hardware.
• Construction: Both use CNC-machined aluminum bodies, stainless steel butterflies and geared electric motors.
• Upkeep: QTP recommends lubricating the butterfly every month. Granatelli recommends opening and closing the cutouts regularly and cleaning and lubricating the valve as part of routine maintenance.
• Warranty: Both carry a 90-day warranty. Only Granatelli offers a 1, 2 or 3-year extended protection plan at checkout.

Electric exhaust cutouts carry the standard 90-day warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. An extended protection plan of 1, 2 or 3 years can be added at checkout.
