Collection: Blow Off Valves & Wastegates

What Is the Difference Between a Blow Off Valve and a Wastegate?

Granatelli Motor Sports has been in American performance and motorsports since 1949, and our wastegate history reaches back to the early 1960s and the famed Novi IndyCar engines. A Granatelli wastegate even helped Mario Andretti win the 1969 Indianapolis 500. Today every wastegate and blow off valve in this collection is designed, engineered and tested at our headquarters in Oxnard, California. A wastegate controls boost by routing exhaust energy around the turbine once your target pressure is reached, which makes it a core part of your boost control strategy rather than an add-on. We offer external wastegates in 44mm, 50mm and 60mm sizes, with piston actuation for high-heat and sustained-load builds like diesel and race applications, or water-cooled diaphragm designs for gates mounted close to the turbo or manifold. Every gate includes V-band mounting and a five-spring tuning kit. On the intake side, our 50mm and 64mm Anaconda blow off valves release pressure when the throttle closes to help protect the turbocharger from compressor surge, with interchangeable springs to tune response.

Choosing the right wastegate takes more than a horsepower number. Engine displacement, turbo size, exhaust flow, manifold design, and target boost all shape the correct choice, and our team can help you match the right part to your build.
