What throttle-body sizes do you offer for LS applications?

Granatelli offers select LS throttle bodies in 103mm, 105mm, 108mm and 112mm configurations. Availability and fitment depend on the specific manifold and part number. Shop Granatelli Motor Sports throttle bodies.

What throttle-body sizes do you offer for LT applications?

Select LT applications have 95mm, 103mm and 112mm Granatelli throttle-body options. Verify the exact vehicle, connector and intake-manifold opening before ordering.

Do you offer a HEMI throttle body?

Yes. Granatelli offers select HEMI throttle-body options, including 95mm configurations; confirm the engine and model-year fitment on the product listing.

Do you offer a throttle body for Hellcat applications?

Select larger throttle bodies, including 108mm configurations, are offered for certain Hellcat applications. Confirm the connector, intake opening and required calibration for your build.

Will a larger throttle body always increase horsepower?

No. A larger throttle body only helps when it addresses an airflow restriction in the overall engine combination. Intake, cylinder-head, induction and tuning requirements matter.

Is the largest throttle body the right choice for a stock engine?

Not necessarily. Choose a size that fits the intake and supports your engine's airflow requirements without creating clearance or calibration issues. Our drive-by-wire throttle body page lets you search by year, make and model.

Can I choose a throttle body by millimeter size alone?

No. Bore size is only one fitment factor; mounting, electronics, manifold opening and vehicle calibration must also match.

Does Granatelli upgrade the electronic motor in its throttle bodies?

Select Granatelli Motor Sports electronic throttle bodies incorporate upgraded components designed for performance applications. Refer to the individual product listing for exact specifications.

Fitment, connectors and intake tube

Does throttle-body connector pin count matter?

Yes. The electrical connector and control strategy must be compatible with the vehicle; matching only the bore diameter is not enough.

What is a 6-pin throttle body?

A 6-pin throttle body uses a six-terminal electronic throttle connection. Connector configuration is important when determining compatibility with the vehicle's wiring and ECU.

Can I force a six-pin connector onto a throttle body with a similar-looking plug?

No. Connector keying and internal pin functions must match. Never force a connector or assume identical pin count means electrical interchangeability.

Why can a wiring adapter cause throttle-control errors even if it plugs in?

Mechanical connector fit does not prove correct pinout, sensor signals or ECU compatibility. Use an adapter specifically validated for both the vehicle and throttle-body part numbers.

Can I use a throttle body listed for a different ECU generation because the bolts align?

Do not assume so. Electronic control strategy and sensor compatibility can differ even when the flange fits; confirm the exact application before installation.

Will a larger throttle body bolt to any LS intake manifold?

No. Check flange pattern, opening diameter, blade clearance, electronics and inlet-pipe connection for the specific manifold. For manifold questions, see the LS and LT Intake Manifold FAQ.

Does a 103mm intake opening guarantee a 103mm electronic throttle body will fit?

No. Flange pattern, bolt size, electrical controls, blade clearance and hood or intake-tube space must also match.

What is the difference between a throttle-body inlet size and its mounting pattern?

Inlet size describes the airflow opening, while the mounting pattern describes the flange and bolt geometry. Both must match the manifold and connecting intake parts.

Do I need to enlarge the intake opening for a larger throttle body?

Only where the product instructions and manifold design call for it. Do not remove material without checking wall thickness, sealing surface and throttle-blade clearance.

Will a larger throttle body fit my factory intake tube?

Not always. Measure the throttle-body inlet outside diameter and compare it with the coupler and intake-tube dimensions on your vehicle.

What happens if a new throttle body has a different inlet diameter than my intake tube?

The intake duct, coupler or clamp may need a correctly sized replacement. Confirm both inside and outside connection dimensions before ordering an adapter. Granatelli Motor Sports billet hose clamps are sized by the outside diameter of the installed coupler.

Can I use a throttle-body spacer with your throttle body?

Compatibility depends on the spacer, throttle-body flange, blade clearance and available fastener length. Verify the combination before installation.

Can a mismatched throttle-body adapter cause the blade to contact a spacer?

Yes. An adapter or spacer with an undersized opening or incorrect alignment can interfere with blade travel. Test fit the assembly without forcing the blade.

Can I transfer my factory throttle-body electronics to an aftermarket body?

Only if the specific Granatelli product instructions explicitly support transfer. Electronic components and calibrations are not universally interchangeable.

What measurements help confirm throttle-body clearance near a supercharger snout?

Measure the flange, blade opening, inlet length, coupler diameter and nearby belt or accessory clearance. Compare those values with the proposed throttle-body drawing.

What information do you need to confirm throttle-body fitment?

Provide the year, make, model, engine, intake manifold, current throttle-body part number, connector photo and any modifications or tune information.

Installation

What should I photograph before unplugging my factory electronic throttle body?

Capture the connector face, wire routing, original part number, mounting flange and intake-tube connection. These details help confirm replacement fitment.

Why should I inspect the throttle blade with the engine off before installation?

Checking for free travel, shipping damage and interference can reveal a mechanical issue before the engine is started. Do not force an electronically driven blade against its stops.

Should I open the throttle blade by hand to check its maximum travel?

Follow the product and vehicle service procedure; forcing a motor-driven blade may damage the gear train. If clearance is in doubt, contact technical support before operation.

Should I lubricate an electronic throttle-body blade with spray oil?

Do not add lubricant unless the product's instructions specify it. Residue can attract deposits or interfere with the intended blade and sensor operation.

How can I check whether the throttle-body gasket protrudes into the bore?

During dry assembly, align the gasket and inspect the full opening for overlap without touching or forcing the blade. Use the gasket specified for the exact mating parts.

Can I reuse damaged throttle-body mounting screws?

No. Replace stripped, stretched or corroded fasteners with the correct specification and torque them as directed. Do not substitute bolts that bottom out in the manifold.

Should a throttle-body housing be used to support the weight of heavy intake piping?

No. Support rigid or heavy intake tubing independently to avoid stressing the throttle-body housing, couplers and manifold flange.

Tuning and relearn

Do I need a tune for an aftermarket electronic throttle body?

Some vehicles and larger sizes require recalibration or a throttle relearn. Check the product's fitment and installation notes and use a qualified tuner if needed.

Why might an electronic throttle body need a relearn?

The engine controller may need to adapt to blade-position and airflow characteristics after certain replacements. Use the appropriate vehicle-specific relearn procedure.

Why might a vehicle idle differently after replacing the throttle body?

Changes in airflow, gasket sealing or learned throttle position can affect idle. Check for leaks, the correct part number and any vehicle-specific calibration or relearn requirements.

Troubleshooting

Can an electronic throttle body cause reduced-power mode?

An incompatible unit, connection issue, mechanical binding or incorrect calibration can trigger reduced-power mode. Record the trouble codes and verify part number and installation before further driving.

What does code P1515 mean after a throttle-body installation?

P1515 may relate to electronic throttle control, but the definition varies by vehicle. Use the model-specific diagnostic procedure and check connector, blade movement and calibration.

Should I keep driving if the accelerator stops responding after a throttle-body swap?

No. Stop in a safe location and arrange diagnosis of the throttle-control fault before further operation. Record the codes and installed part numbers.

What should I do if the throttle body makes an unusual clicking noise at key-on?

Some electronic throttle checks are normal, but persistent binding or fault codes warrant inspection. Follow the vehicle's diagnostic process rather than forcing the blade or continuing to drive in reduced-power mode.

What should I check if a throttle blade rubs the manifold?

Stop operating the engine and inspect flange alignment, gasket placement, manifold opening and fastener installation. Resolve contact before starting the vehicle again.

Why should I inspect the throttle-body gasket after a rough-idle complaint?

A damaged or misaligned seal can admit unmetered air. Check mounting alignment, gasket condition and fastener tightening according to the application instructions.

Can a loose charge-pipe coupler mimic a throttle-body performance problem?

Yes. An intake or boost leak can produce driveability symptoms that are not caused by the throttle body. Check the full air path and diagnostic codes. See the Billet Hose Clamp FAQ for coupler and clamp checks.

How should I clean an electronic throttle body?

Follow the vehicle and product service instructions and use a compatible cleaning method. Avoid forcing an electronic blade or wetting its motor and sensors.
