Utilizing Twin Right Angle Gearboxes with a Splined 4-inch Diameter Driveshaft, the Mustang MD-AWD-IMP-DE quickly became the KING of load-bearing chassis dynamometers. The MD-AWD-IMP-DE utilizes the largest set of rollers in the industry at 50-inches front and rear. That is what sets the MD-AWD-IMP-DE dyno apart from the other bad boys in the Mustang Dyno line up, its monstrous knurled 50-inch rollers at each corner. Intended to be their No Excuses GODZILLA dyno for customers whose horsepower testing requirements and drag racing slick tires require a larger, knurled tire-friendly roller contact patch configuration. With its (Dual) DE eddy current absorbers, the MD-AWD-IMP-DE is capable of properly loading and testing street cars at 150 2WD or AWD hp, 3500 hp beasts, as well as large diesel trucks without worrying about tire slippage.
With a maximum speed of 230 mph, and a horsepower measurement rating of 3,500-hp, the MD-AWD-IMP-DE is by far the best, fastest and most powerful dynamometer ever offered by the best dynamometer manufacture in America. The (DE) dual eddy current power absorption feature allows for “steady state”, Direct Coupled testing at various speed and torque outputs, making the MD-AWD-IMP-DE the ultimate high-performance dynamometer.
The MD-AWD-IMP-DE inertia-based testing capability provides a practical and efficient method to gauge vehicle performance. (DE) Inertia-based performance testing involves accelerating a mass with a known inertia at wide-open throttle. In the case of the MD-AWD-IMP-DE, the inertia composed of a pair of 50” diameter rollers, front and rear act as the road-load mechanism. The rate at which the vehicle can accelerate the rollers determines the amount of energy being transferred from the tires to the surface of the rolls. Speed and torque combined are used to calculate actual horsepower at the wheels. This data is then plotted against time, rpm, or speed to produce invaluable graphical representations of the vehicle’s power curves. This database keeps track of testing records for future baseline test comparisons.
Mustang’s dual eddy current power absorption features enable the system to test vehicles at variable throttle positions, speeds, and torque outputs. The torque value read from the load cell is combined with roll-speed to calculate the exact force being applied at the vehicle’s wheels. Unlike friction-type load control devices offered by competing manufacturers, MUSTANGs eddy current absorbers and advanced closed-loop computer control system enable the user to carefully control the road load applied to the vehicle under test by increments of horsepower or torque.
The MD-AWD-IMP-DE also utilizes Mustang Dyno’s HO Engine Cooling Fan, generating up to 30,000 CFM to properly simulate road conditions.
Also included are MUSTANGs electronics unique datalogging of analog sensors (including boost), engine RPM, vehicle speed, air/fuel ratio, OBD-II parameters, and more.
There is not much this dyno will not do. It is designed and intended to work as well at 150hp as it does at 3500 and everything in between.
