Granatelli Coils in the Press: LSX Magazine Tests Malevolent Coils, SEMA News Lists the HEMI Xtreme Kit

By Joey Granatelli1 min read

LSX Magazine reported a 10 hp and 34 lb-ft gain on a 2016 CTS-V with Granatelli Malevolent coils and wires, and SEMA News listed the Granatelli HEMI Xtreme coil kit in its product pages.

Two publications have covered Granatelli ignition coils: LSX Magazine wrote up a dyno test of the 85,000-volt Malevolent coils on a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, and SEMA News listed the HEMI Xtreme Series coil kit in its product news.

LSX Magazine: Malevolent Coils on a 2016 CTS-V

The feature, "Shocking Revelations with Granatelli's Malevolent Coils," was written by Cardea Blue and published on March 19, 2016.

It covers the Granatelli Malevolent coils for late-model GM LT1 and LT4 engines, rated at 85,000 volts. The article puts the factory coil at 27,000 volts, which makes the Malevolent about three times the output.

The test car was Granatelli's own brand-new 2016 CTS-V. The coils and matching 0-Ohm spark plug wires were installed together.

  Horsepower Torque
Stock coils and wires 566 hp 584 lb-ft
Malevolent coils and wires 576 hp 618 lb-ft
Gain +10 hp +34 lb-ft

These figures come from Granatelli's in-house testing, as reported by LSX Magazine. The torque gain is the part worth noticing: on a supercharged engine, a stronger spark shows up most where cylinder pressure is highest.
