Granatelli Motor Sports Ford Ignition Coils

Granatelli Motor Sports coils increase power to the spark plug up to 400% over stock and are designed to be a direct OEM replacement. They even exceed the OEM specifications; they are OBD-II computer safe, and feature silicone magnetic steel core technology. By optimizing winding process and material diameters, Granatelli Motor Sports was able to double the factory coil output. Brass secondary contacts assure the maximum output from the coil reaches the plug every time. Another great feature, the bodies, brackets and towers are all integrally molded into one unit with brass inserts to relieve compression pressure caused when tighten down the coils.

Granatelli O ohm wires are patent protected by United States Patent number 7,185,622. This patent covers our unique method of producing ignition wires of extremely low resistance while maintaining very high noise suppression. The benefit of this invention is that full electrical energy from the ignition source is transmitted to the spark plug. The end result of the application of this method is increased horsepower, torque and fuel economy.

Ignition FAQs

Pick the series by how hard you push the engine. Output varies by engine, so always check the kV rating in the product title. Street Fighter (25kV to 60kV depending on engine) and Hot Street (42kV to 50kV) suit stock and mildly modified engines. MPG coils (35kV) are built for Ford 4.6L/5.4L and 6.8L V10 daily drivers. Pro Series (60kV to 80kV) and Pro Series Xtreme (65kV to 80kV) are for high-compression, nitrous and boosted engines. Malevolent (85kV) is the top GM LS and LT1/LT4 coil. Read Which Granatelli Coil Pack Do I Need?

On GM LS engines, Street Fighter coils are rated 60kV, Pro Series Xtreme 80kV and Malevolent 85kV. Higher-output coils are aimed at supercharged, turbocharged and nitrous engines where weaker coils can suffer spark blowout. A higher kV rating does not automatically mean more horsepower on a stock engine. Shop GM coil packs.

The 28-0513 coils fit square-style GM LS engines (LS2, LS3, LS7, LS9, LSA and related). The 28-0514 coils fit the Gen V LT1/LT4. The 28-1680 coils fit 1997–2012 GM 4.8L/5.3L trucks and SUVs with cylindrical coils. The LT1/LT4 uses its own 28-0514 coil, so order by engine, not by series name. See the Ignition Coil FAQ for the full part number guide.

Yes. Complete kits are 28-1815 for 2011–2015, 28-1816 for 2016–2017 and 28-1818 for 2018–2026 Mustang GT and 2018–2021 F-150. Single coils (01818 coil-on-plug, 01819 coil-near-plug) fit 2018–2026 Mustang GT and 2018–2021 F-150. Shop Ford coil packs or read Granatelli Coyote Street Fighter coils.

Yes. Granatelli Motor Sports makes coils for the 5.7L, 6.1L and 6.4L HEMI and the supercharged 6.2L Hellcat. Shop Dodge coil packs.

Results depend on the engine and the rest of the build. In LSX Magazine's Project C700 test, a ProCharged LT1 Corvette gained 19.26 rwhp and 18.73 lb-ft with Granatelli coils and 0-ohm coil-near-plug wires, with nothing else changed. Read Granatelli coils in the press and Ford 5.0L coil dyno testing explained.

Granatelli 0-ohm wires use a spiral-wound, stainless steel–dipped copper conductor with a patented EMI/RFI suppression ring (U.S. Patent 7,185,622), so full coil energy reaches the plug without radio or ECU interference. They have an 8mm silicone jacket and pre-assembled stainless snap-lock terminals. Read What Are 0-Ohm Spark Plug Wires? or shop performance spark plug wires.

Standard wires have OEM-level heat protection. High-temp (HT) wires are rated for 800°F+ radiant heat, and ceramic spark plug boots are rated up to 2,000°F. Kevlar and ceramic boots add more protection near long-tube headers and turbo hot sides. Read Ceramic vs. Kevlar Spark Plug Wire Boots or shop LS ceramic-boot wires.

No. Spark blowout under boost can come from the coils, but plug gap, worn plugs, damaged boots, loose connectors and fuel or mechanical problems can cause the same symptom. Check those first. Read Spark Blowout or Something Else?
